To my wonderful clients and those who were about t To my wonderful clients and those who were about to be so pre-lockdown, thank you for being patient during these uncertain times.

A wee update to say that I will be up and running again at some point, but that certainly won’t be very soon. I’m just not going to force an opening until I’m 100% comfortable doing so and until you are too and it feels all kinds of wrong to be doing the work I do for #thenourishshed in full PPE as is required for the openings due next month. Thoughts are with my peers who were raring and ready to open up on 4th July and now have to await a new (hopefully still July) date. And to all those juggling in general with ALLL sorts, we’ve played a blinder so far, we can therefore get through the rest. KBO, right 🤷‍♀️.
-
In the meantime here is an interim garden pic for momentary nourishings. I’ll be doing a vid soon on jaw release to help rid that pent up lockdown facial muscle stress. -
Please DM for waiting list, keep in touch and oh my worrrrrd so looking forward to seeing you IRL soon 💛

Exactly one year ago today in the care of our incr Exactly one year ago today in the care of our incredible NHS this amazing guy was born and what a year it’s been! As we’ve clapped for them again tonight we’re raising a glass to them, to us for having kept a lil babe alive for a year and to amazing Stanley and to you all in these crazy times. We have LOVED today. Not the birthday party we planned for but many virtual ones today and chats with our friends and family and it was bloody fantastic. Here’s to Stanley! And you all, keep on keeping on 🥂
OK so I'll come clean, I HATE soap 👀 . Yep, eve OK so I'll come clean, I HATE soap 👀 . Yep, ever since I can remember and my dry lil hands can remember soap has been a big moisture-stripping no-no. If you have had /have eczema or dry, sensitive skin you'll know what I mean too. So whilst there are some beauts out there in terms of ingredients, the fact is most soaps are not ph-balanced and therefore strip the hands' skin barrier of their natural moisture defences.
I have here some tried and tested heroes that are up to the cleaning measures we need in these crazy times. Please support these guys if you're able - all of them are small family-run businesses who could do with your biz right now -

NURSEM -Not organic but jam-packed full of gorgeous ingredients such as avocado oil and pro- vitamin B5, bergamot, aloe and grapefruit this soap-free handwash was developed with nurses to help combat the effects of relentless hand-washing. This wash (and the rest of their range) offer natural intensive care for all hard working hands AND for every product sold, they provide a month’s worth of free Nursem to a nurse or midwife. ..I mean 😍 -

SUSSEX SOAP HOUSE - Handcrafted by my lovely neighbours in Sussex these soaps are a stunning range of scents and colours and deliciously shaped and packaged. Using organic ingredients, free from palm oil, parabens, sulphates, artificial colours or synthetic fragrances AND vegan-friendly. Suits most skin types (not for the very dry / dehydrated as they're not ph-balanced) -

NATHALIE BOND-run by husband and wife team Andy and Nat's all-organic eucalyptus and peppermint liquid soap is full of gorgeous high-grade botanicals and essential oils. Free from palm oil, SLS, parabens and synthetic colours and fragrances, they are cruelty-free and nearly all of their products are vegan-friendly. This hand soap gently cleanses and leaves my hands sooo silky, fresh and minty post-wash and is suitable for all skin types

SO be cleansed, be moisturised, be calm and we’ll carry on together, love El x. And let me know - do you want a post on top 3 hand creams too?

Reposting thanks to @wholisticskinandcare and neur Reposting thanks to @wholisticskinandcare and neuroscientist @doctorclaudia 🙏. Our skin is essentially our nervous system turned inside out, both formed from the same tissue when we were just wee embryos. In addition to its deep connection to our nervous system, our skin is also an endocrine organ (and SO much more)👇🏻
.
From neuroscientist @doctorclaudia - receiving face massage can promote stress relief and empathy👇🏻
.
“From the aromatherapy inhalation techniques, to pressure point massage addons, to the act of gently massaging the face -- these are truly mind-body strategies that ultimately reduce the levels of stress hormones in the body, allowing for better balance between the immune, nervous and cutaneous systems.”
...
...
“When you [as Estheticians] give a facial massage, you are activating ... very slow nerve fibers that result in positive feelings and ultimately reduce levels of the stress hormone, cortisol.
.
.
One other mechanism by which your gentle touch reduces cortisol is by increasing it’s counterpart, oxytocin. Oxytocin, initially studied for its role in childbirth, is involved in a variety of social behaviors, ... Oxytocin also reduces stress responses, including cortisol levels. Finally, it is a hormone that’s linked to feelings of empathy.
.
.
“... you are not simply breaking up knots in muscles, or cleaning and smoothing the skin, you are providing a mind-body therapy that restores the cellular balance between the skin, nervous system and immune system. One treatment at a time, through touch, you can help create a more connected and compassionate world, beyond the immediate effects of reducing individual stress.” 💛

Thank you to one of my fave accounts @suzyreading Thank you to one of my fave accounts @suzyreading for sharing this from her self-care challenge with @inthemomentmag for some movement motivation this Monday and for the intro to the oh so beaut images @noharanda 🌱How you hold your body has a powerful effect on positivity. Pain and tension literally make us grumpy. We book our car in for an MOT so why not also schedule in some regular maintenance for your body. See a physio or osteo, book in for a massage, yoga, acupuncture or reflexology. Your body and mind will thank you for it.
🌱Notice the areas of your body where you habitually hold on and consciously soften them or take a good stretch. It might be counterintuitive but giving those areas a squeeze first helps you relax them. Tight neck and shoulders? Lift your shoulders up to your ears and then relish dropping them down. Tension in your jaw? Screw your face up like a raisin and enjoy letting it go.
🌱Your posture makes a difference to how your feel too, with a tall spine, long neck and open heart tapping us into energy and confidence. To counteract the many activities in modern life (screen time, driving, carrying heavy objects or little ones) that bring us into a round spine position, lowering our mood and subjective energy levels, try some shoulder rolls or place your palms onto your lower back and squeeze your elbows towards each other. And if you want to feel up, look up! Lifting your line of sight while out walking helps too. 🌱Missed out on the self-care challenge? You can catch up or start at any time. Scroll through @suzyreading feed or hop over to @inthemomentmag for a link to the entire challenge.
🌱I hope you’re finding it nourishing!
